Barkley, the Boonville Beer

The Boonville Beer The Boonville Beer See those two handsome fellows on the left?  You may have seen them before on our six packs, or the case cartons. You may have seen the logo to the right on the crowns of our bottles, on the neck labels of the 12 ounce bottles, on a pint glass in your favorite pub, or on a teeshirt worn by some passing beer connoisseur.

What are they, you may have wondered. Why on earth does that bear have antlers?

One fellow wrote to ask us that very question. He explained that he was at home, enjoying one of our ales, and examining the six-pack carrier. Puzzled by what he saw, he mentioned to his wife that he couldn’t figure out why the bear had antlers. She looked over his shoulder at the carrier for a moment, then walked away chuckling. “What,” he cried, “Do you get it?” She nodded, but wouldn’t talk.

“I have to know,” he wrote. “It’s been two weeks and she still won’t tell me.”

Well, relax, oh loyal but confused lovers of true beer, you are about to receive enlightenment…

It’s not a bear. Bears don’t have antlers. Of course not. Who ever heard of such a thing?

It is, however, a BEER. The Legendary Boonville Beer to be exact. Barkley, by name, who could be considered a cross between a bear and a deer (thus a beer). Barkley and his brethren are often seen about Anderson Valley by lovers of truly fine beers (especially if they’ve had a few).

So now you know. Never again will you be tormented by friends and relations who know the secret of the Beer and won’t give. Now you can go out and torture your friends and relations.

This public service was brought to you by Barkley, the Legendary Boonville Beer, and by those other legendary Boonville beers; the ales of the Anderson Valley Brewing Company.
